The area can be reached very easily by road from both main cities and smaller towns within the province. The main routes are state road 62 \u2018Cisa\u2019, which connects the region with Emilia and north and north-east Italy, and state road 1 \u2018Aurelia\u2019, which connects Rome with Ventimiglia. The nearby motorways are A15 (Parma \u2013 La Spezia) and A12 (Genoa \u2013 Livorno). The most well-known and visited places around La Spezia can be reached quickly and easily from several exits along the A12:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Within the city of La Spezia, road links are good although congested at times. The most sought-after tourist destinations of the area are well-connected to the city by several panoramic roads immersed in the picturesque landscape: above all, the \u2018Litoranea\u2019 road that links La Spezia to the Cinque Terre offers a charming aerial view of the Gulf of Poets and the 5 fishing villages of Cinque Terre.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

    The city\u2019s main station, La Spezia Centrale, is an important railway hub from which the La Spezia \u2013 Parma line begins; it is also located on the Genoa \u2013 Rome line, one of the three main lines that connect Italy\u2019s north with its central and southern cities. In addition to the central station, inaugurated in 1887, the city has two other stations (La Spezia Migliarina and Ca\u2019 di Boschetti) that allow easy travel between the old historic centre and new economic heart of the city, which has been moving towards Migliarina. Within the province of La Spezia, there are 14 other stations which, connecting the city with Lunigiana, Cinque Terre and other Riviera towns, provide an essential service for tourists tourist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    La Spezia Centrale is situated in the city\u2019s historic centre, in a convenient location that allows tourists to walk quickly and easily to the pedestrianised areas of La Spezia; here, you will find most of the museums on the museum trail, as well as several hotels and other types of accommodation. Throughout the day, numerous trains to Cinque Terre depart from the central station: in less than 10 minutes, this fast and non-stop service reaches Riomaggiore, the first of the 5 Cinque Terre villages encountered when travelling from La Spezia. Because of the number and frequency of trains, as well as the volume of tourists and residents who cross the Riomaggiore \u2013 Monterosso stretch daily, this Trenitalia service is comparable to a large city\u2019s urban transport network. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
